This includes a fund to assist businesses to retain their employees; deferred tax filing to August 31, 2020; and access to credit through the BDC & Export Development Canada.
March 20, 2020 Update:
We wish to assist any of our tenants who may be encountering financial hardship as the result of the current COVID-19 crisis of the following government support;
Employment Insurance (EI) – The one week waiting period is being waived for those confirmed with COVID-19 and unable to work. Applicants will be required to meet the medical evidence requirements and complete an application with your provincial EI agency, before being considered eligible for sick benefits. Emergency Care Benefit – This benefit will provide up to $900 every two weeks for up to 15 weeks for workers who are staying home because they are sick, quarantined, in isolation, or caring for someone who is sick. More information is still be released by the government on the CRA website.
Emergency Support Benefit – This benefit will help Canadians who lose their job and are not eligible for Employment Insurance, including those that are self-employed. More information is still be released by the government on the CRA website.
Canada Child Benefit: Those receiving the Canada Child Benefit will see a temporary boost in the coming months.
March 17, 2020 Update:
We at District Realty understand how the rapidly evolving COVID-19 virus is causing concern among our staff, clients and tenants across our property management portfolio. We want to assure you that we take this situation seriously and advise that we are preparing our business and buildings accordingly.
Effective Tuesday March 17, 2020 our Head Office at 50 Bayswater Ave in Ottawa will be closed to the public, and with the exception of a skeleton staff, we have been arranging for most staff to work outside the office. Our main phone 613 759 8383 will be continued to be answered as usual, as will emails. We are confident we will continue to provide you, and our tenants, quality service during this challenging time.
Our office and site staff have received additional training on how best to avoid contracting the virus, and we have increased the cleaning frequency of the common areas of all the buildings under our management to protect our tenants and the general public. We have also suspended all apartment and commercial space showings until it is safe to resume them.
