Executive Team

Sol Shinder, Q.C.

Chairman

Prior to joining District Realty in 1994, Sol had a distinguished career as a lawyer with expertise in commercial real estate. Sol brings to District Realty a wealth of knowledge of Ottawa real estate, its zoning, and history. He was a founding member and senior partner of a leading business and real estate law firm, and during his lengthy legal career he specialized in commercial development law. Sol represented many leading development companies from Ottawa and across Canada. He was the Chair of the Committee of Adjustment for the City of Ottawa and active in the planning and development areas of his real estate law practice. In addition, he has been a philanthropic leader for the past 60 years, holding countless positions at various charitable agencies in Ottawa.

    Steve Ramphos

    Broker of Record, President

    Steve began his real estate/property management career in 1973 while working for a local developer as a comptroller and property manager of over 1300 apartment units in Ottawa's west end. In 1978 he became a real estate broker with Regional Realty, and soon advanced to managing the commercial division of that company in the mid-80s. Steve co-founded District Realty in 1987 and has grown its property management division to be one of the largest third-party management companies in Ottawa. An active community member and supporter of numerous local charities, Steve has served three terms as President of the Hellenic Community of Ottawa and currently sits on The University of Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation Board. He has served several terms as an adviser of The Metropolis Council of Canada, a national committee of the Greek Orthodox Church in Canada, being elevated to the position of Archon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, which is the highest position that can be achieved by a lay person within The Greek Orthodox Church Worldwide.

      Jason Shinder

      Executive Vice President, Principal

      Jason Shinder began his career with District Realty in 1993 as an Assistant Property Manager and has since been involved in all aspects of the business, including working as a Sales Representative, Broker and Property Manager. During the more than 20 years he has worked with his partner Steve Ramphos, he has built District into one of Ottawa's largest and most successful property management companies.

      In 2006, Jason was awarded the Freiman Family Young Leadership Award and the Lawrence Greenberg Young Leadership Development Award in recognition of his outstanding community service. He has chaired several fundraising events, including the Jewish Community of Ottawa's Annual Campaign. Additionally, Jason has been a trustee on the Board at CHEO as well as the Jewish Community of Ottawa. His leadership in both the Ottawa real estate and non-profit communities continues to set him apart.

        Kelly Kerrigan, RPA

        Vice President, Operations

        A graduate of Algonquin's Architectural Technology Program (Honours) in 1998, Kelly also earned a Real Property Administrators Diploma from the Building Owners and Manager Institute International in 1999. He has worked for District for over 20 years, and since starting as a Residential Building Superintendent he has received numerous promotions and currently holds the position of Vice President of Operations. Reporting to Jason and Steve, Kelly is responsible for all aspects of District Realty's business including the direct management of District's Commercial and Residential portfolio of properties, and the day-to-day operations of District Head Office. Kelly's 26 years of architectural, engineering, construction, and management experience, backed by his unparalleled moral and ethical standards, is a solid foundation and asset to District Realty and its clients.

          Mark Alcorn, CA

          Chief Financial Officer

          Mark has been a Financial Executive with commercial real estate firms in Halifax and Ottawa since 1992. During this time, he was directly responsible for financial reporting, tax planning, information systems, and operation management. His thorough experience and knowledge of the commercial real estate industry provides District Realty clients with significant value in the following areas:

          Property Management – Ensuring the highest standard of financial reliability, accuracy, and integrity.

          Systems Conversions – Providing the best quality of service by maintaining District's financial software and technology at the highest level.

          Commercial Property Development and Acquisition – Helping clients to make better decisions through accurate long-term forecasting of financial models.

          Mark obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) from St. Francis Xavier University and articled with Coopers & Lybrand, earning his CA designation in 1992. Mark is a former member of the American Federation of Musicians and continues to donate his musical skill to fundraising for charities and church events.

                Charles Mirsky

                Charles Mirsky began his career at District Realty in 2006 and served as both a Residential and Commercial Property Manager before his move to investment sales. Raised in Ottawa, Charles’ experience in both management and sales gives clients a unique perspective on Ottawa-area commercial properties. In a short period, this graduate of Carleton University’s Economics program has demonstrated his brokerage talent by closing many sales in the commercial and multi-residential sectors. Charles embodies the core value of District Realty, showing a passion for client service, persistence, and unquestionable honesty.

                  Emeh Essien

                  Leasing Manager/ Marketing Co-Ordinator

                  Emeh Essien is responsible for marketing and leasing all of District's commercial properties under management. She has developed state-of-the-art skills in the marketing of real estate properties, especially online. Emeh formerly was the Residential Marketing Coordinator at District and has been in the customer service industry for over 10 years. Emeh is completing her diploma in Business Marketing Management at Algonquin College, which is excellent training to complement her highly advanced skills in social media marketing, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat.

                      Michael Morin

                      Commercial Property Manager

                      Michael joined District Realty in 2007, coming with years of experience in real estate management and leasing of shopping centres, large office spaces, residential units, and industrial complexes. Michael currently manages the day-to-day operations of a very large commercial portfolio. This includes overseeing all tenant and base building fit-ups as well as contract management. Michael is currently enrolled in The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) where he is in the process of completing his Real Estate Administrators (RPA) designation. To date he has successfully completed five courses.

                        Whit joined District Realty in 2009 as both a Residential and Commercial Property Manager. He now oversees District Realty's residential portfolio. Whit's dedication and attention to detail ensures that the highest standards of safety, cleanliness, and cost effectiveness are constantly adhered to throughout the residential portfolio.

                          Simon Sit

                          Commercial Operations Manager

                          Simon joined District Realty in 2009 as a Building Operator before progressing to his current position as a Commercial Operations Manager. With extensive experience in a variety of industries, including retail, high tech, restaurants, and construction, Simon manages a large portfolio of commercial space. Simon’s primary responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day operations of individual properties, maintaining tenant-client relations, and ensuring efficient execution of all property ventures. In his previous role as a Building Operator, Simon also gained extensive experience in building maintenance for several properties in the District Realty portfolio. In his free time, Simon enjoys participating in community event across Ottawa, including HOPE Volleyball, the Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival, and the Ottawa Big Bike.

                              Whit joined District Realty in 2009 as both a Residential and Commercial Property Manager. He now oversees District Realty's residential portfolio.                                 Louisa Lalonde

                                Residential / Commercial Property Manager

                                Louisa joined District Realty in 2006 as a Residential Property Administrator and Marketing Coordinator. In 2013 she was promoted to her current position as the General Manager of 341 MacLaren where she played a vital role in managing the building’s transition from a hotel into one of Ottawa’s highest quality executive apartments. In her current position, Louisa reports directly to the Vice President of Operations and plays an essential role in maintaining quality service and effective communication for our tenants. Louisa’s ability to effectively oversee tenant and property-related matters, as well as her more than 20 years of experience in customer service and management, allows her to maintain excellent tenant, client and community relations on behalf of District Realty.

                                  Stephane Louiseize

                                  Residential Operations Manager

                                  Stephane joined District Realty in 2012 as our Residential Operations Manager. With over 20 years of experience in the property management industry, Stephane’s extensive expertise and management skills are valuable assets to the team at District Realty. Reporting directly to Whit Fraser, his primary responsibility is to ensure all residential tenants, clients, and contacts receive the highest level of service and care. When he’s not at work, Stephane enjoys four wheeling, boating, and snowmobiling at his cottage.
