District Realty has introduced a new Pre-Authorized Debit
Payment Plan for its tenants at Gilboa Place (3301 Uplands Drive). In addition
to our Interac payment option, District Realty's tenants can pay their rent in
the way that is most convenient for them. If this new payment option is
successful, it is expected to be offered at many other District apartments in
the coming months.

NEW STATE OF THE ART COOLING PLANT
District Realty has teamed with Keller Engineering Associates and Direct Energy to replace the cooling plant at 200 Elgin Street in Ottawa with a "State of the Art" oil free centrifugal chiller by Smardt. The new, dual compressor, variable speed drive chiller which services the 143,000 square foot office building in Ottawa's downtown core, and employs frictionless magnetic bearings.
The 65,000 kWh reduction in electrical energy use per year correlates to a Greenhouse gas reduction in CO2, SO2 and NOX, a meaningful first step towards a "Green" building operation. The project commenced in August 2007 with a budget of $425,000.00 and was completed both on budget and in time for the 2008 cooling season, with zero disruption to building occupants.

July 2008District Realty is proud to announce that Laura Haviland has joined the District Realty Team in the position of Residential Property Manager on Monday, June 23, and has quickly proven to be an asset to both her department as well as the company.
Laura is a career-oriented individual who has proven herself in the Property Management and IT field over the course of several years. Working in an office environment is second nature for Laura, having worked as an Office Manager and Shift Supervisor, but where she is hoping to expand her experience is in the field.
As part of Laura's position, she will be visiting the residential sites with regularity to ensure proper maintenance and tenant satisfaction, supervising trades and superintendents, as well as working on rental development initiatives with the on-site staff. Laura along with Louisa Lalonde, Residential Property Administrator, will also be overseeing the development of the District Realty web site.
